Rejected 13 times by the Grand Ole Opry — Hank Snow didn’t just get in, he changed country music forever. Hank Snow’s career began in his homeland of Canada. Performing under the stage name “Hank, The Yodeling Ranger,” he gradually built a name for himself through radio programs. However, his true dream was to reach Nashville and perform at the Grand Ole Opry — the sacred hall of country music. The journey wasn’t easy. Hank Snow was rejected by the Opry no less than 13 times. But with extraordinary persistence, he never gave up. Finally, in 1950, the doors of the Opry opened for him. Soon after, Hank Snow released what would become his signature song, “I’m Movin’ On.” Interestingly, RCA Victor initially refused to release the track, believing it was too “blue” — too melancholic.
